"It all started in 2013 from a trip among the Berber populations of the High Atlas of Morocco. Berbers who live in small villages (50/60 families) at over 1700 meters above sea level and distant from each other even more than three hours of walking. Villages nestled on the slopes of the barren mountains, and until six years ago, without electricity, water in the houses and with impervious communication paths passable only by mule and/or sturdy off-road vehicles. Dwellings made of blocks of pressed straw and mud, few of those built in fragile masonry. From the very beginning, attention and interest focused, in particular, on two small villages: IMINOUGNI and IGHBOULA and as if on a bet, it was decided to build two small schools (the two villages did not have one) an elementary school in IMINOUGNI and one for the youngest in IGHBOULA. An elementary school also because only the boys attended the matrassa to learn to read the Koran and the The girls, on the other hand, were busy with the family, weaving carpets, caring for their younger siblings, and especially herding goats. Thus, the first school was built using blocks of straw and mud, and after the involvement of the heads of the families and with colorful but rich conversations, the girls too are in class with the boys. Meanwhile, the school has been furnished, various materials and supplies provided. But after the arrival of electricity and the supply of a small pump, a simple water supply system was also installed and a tap was installed in each home. Consequently, it was possible to install squat toilets at the school and in several homes. At the beginning of the school year, only two teachers were employed for five months; today, five teachers are employed for seven months, and the elementary school cycle is completed in mixed classes. Some time later, the project of building a small school for the youngest children in the village of IGHBOULA was born and became more concrete. Thus, since last year, another 20 children have been able to attend two small rooms created by renovating the spaces of a previous school. goat stables and made accessible and furnished by many friends who each year, in different ways, participate in the creation and management of the project, including by staying in the two small villages."
